Windows 7. My idea!
It's just amazing. Microsoft really, seriously, honestly has no shame.

In the most participatory age in history, the proprietary monster stands up and says "hey, Windows users, all of the improvements in our product were YOUR IDEA!"

What a great spin on the truth: "hi, Windows users, you rejected Vista completely, and we heard the message: you don't want software that's complete crap! So now we'll give you something that's not complete crap, and we'll say it was all because we're such great listeners."

It's just so transparently ludicrous. I guess I shouldn't let it get to me, but *oooooooh*!!!

MS ideas

Its amazing where MS gets its ideas from.... I see alot of the MS marketing of Windows 7 coming from the Open Source ideas. Clearly the 'Windows 7 install parties' come from Mozilla and various distro launch parties. The whole campaign you mention also screams of some of the open source stuff too. They just seem to now blatantly rip it off!

Cheers,

Their latest campaign

Their latest campaign includes the following slogan: "Windows, for a world without walls". I think it's been since decades we've said "In a world without walls, who needs Windows?"

I can't wait for someone to post a parody ad on YouTube that ends with the line, "Windows 7 was my idea... 'cause I'm a Mac!"

If only it were the improvement they advertise. True, the irritating stuff is gone and I'm enjoying the interface and doodads, but I've been having a hell of a time with the stuff I need to use like SQL Express, Sharpdesk (scanner), Cityworks, and other software specialized for my work. This is the second install - 64-bit had some problems we couldn't get around, but 32-bit is having a different set of stubborn problems. So I don't know how I feel about Windows 7 right now...
